KING AERYS II TARGARYEN
Few lords kept to court during Aerys' childhood, for fear of the increasingly violent whimsy which gripped his father. Stoic, cool, quiet, and given to pragmatism, those who now seek to curry favor with the young new king will find he's grown a near-impenetrable carapace up around himself.
SER AEROL BLACKFYRE
Ser Aerol Blackfyre was once heir to his house-- a promising young knight of quality. But he fell in love with a woman promised to another lord, and in a fit of jealousy challenged him to a dual. That man was the heir of Lord Arryn, and after Aerol killed him, he was saved an execution by setting aside his title and joining the kingsguard. Fulfilling his duty to the old king clearly ground him down. Now Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, he's a terse and grim man who keeps as much to himself as he can.
LORD ALEC LANNISTER
Lord Alec Lannister, once a long-time ally and friend of Lords Tyrell and Tully, has grown increasingly distant from both in his old age. If you believe the rumors, his wife told him on her deathbed that she'd had a longstanding affair with Lord Tully-- and he's been embittered with Tyrell ever since the Warden of the Reach refused to foster his son. But how much is true, how much is rumor, and how much are figments produced by a mind slowly going age-addled is difficult to say.

LORD BRAN ARRYN
Lord Bran Arryn wasa second son, never meant to be lord; his elder brother was slain by Aerol Blackfyre in a duel. He's never forgiven House Blackfyre, and in his age his hate has grown to encompass many lords of the Crownlands, whom he feels are often the subject of Targaryen favoritism. Old-fashioned and reclusive, he rarely visits court in King's Landing.
LORD BAELON BLACKFYRE
Lord Baelon Blackfyre, a second son, became heir to his House when his elder brother was cast into disgrace after slaying an Arryn son in a duel. Quiet and bookish in his youth, Baelon became even more reserved after taking the mantle of lordship. Known to be serious, grave, and very competent, he rarely leaves his home of Dragonstone.
THE LADIES VELARYON
The ladies Velaryon are arguably the closest living relatives to the throne, for they have recent ties to Targaryen blood on both sides. But after their father was tortured and executed for plotting treason against the father of the king, their house was dissolved, and they were forced to live in the Red Keep until one by one they were married off to far-flung lords of Westeros.
LORD LYR MARTELL
Lord Lyr Martell, a fourth child, was the only remaining member of his family after their horrific slaughter during the opening years of the War of Thorns. Since then, he has grown into a competent leader generally lauded by fellow Dornishmen. His public reputation as a clever trickster and womanizer is broadly confirmed by personal accounts, but those who know him better find him a cunning man of many faces.

LORD WILLUM STARK
Lord Willum Stark, an aging war veteran with a well-respected political acumen (for a lord of the North) lost many of his own sons to the ravages of Winter and wildlings, and has wasted the last years of his life in a failed effort to get his lords to agree to each send one of their lesser sons to the Wall as a dedication to its defenses.
